Yoga for Depression and Anxiety

Signs of depression incude low energy and initiative, sleep problems (either sleeping too much or insomnia) appetite changes, lack of emotional zest, procrastination, and generalized anxiety and stress. Whether or not you identify yourself as "depressed" these are often components of depression and are part of what we will address through this course.

Each class will include yoga postures (asanas) and breath work (pranayama). These specific techniques are intended to gently move the student into the practice, soothing the elusive and murky discomforts of depression and 'the blues" as well as energizing and brightening mood.

Many individuals today are struggling with depression and low energy. We hope that by offering this class, those who want an alternative to anti-depressant medication (and the side affects they may bring) can expore this natural approach that is both empowering and effective for many people.

If you are already taking anti-depressants, please continue to do so until you give the practice a go, and then only stop taking them under the supervision of your doctor.
