Pilates / Yoga FusionPilates is a series of exercises based on the work of the late Joseph H. Pilates. The focus of the exercises is to develop core muscle strength and stability as well as flexibility. Students will learn to effectively recruit trunk musculature of the abdomen, spine, shoulders and pelvis and to control the position of the lumbar spine during dynamic movement. Some benefits of Pilates training include:
Pilates class begins with a warm-up covering basic Pilates principles of breathing, pelvic and shoulder girdle stabilization and neutral alignment. After basic principles have been reviewed students will be led through a series of preparatory and essential level mat exercises. Modifications will be provided to address injuries and special populations as well as to make exercises more challenging. Students will want to wear comfortable workout clothing and socks or bare feet. Yoga mats can be used although a thicker mat may be desired. Come to class ready to have fun and to achieve greater mind-body awareness! Students of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds are welcome. In addition to group classes, Vicki offers private instruction. During these sessions the instructor will develop a program for the students specific needs. In addition to the matwork other apparatus will be utilized such as the reformer, bands, BOSU, and fitness circle as well as advanced level exercises that cannot be covered in a class setting A special rate of $35.00 for an initial private lesson with Vicki is available, and private sessions on the Pilates Reformer are also available. Please call 425-210-8658 to book your session. Instructor: Vicki Morrow
