The Naga Yoga Practice
Why Yoga? With regular practice, one is able to move, function, and breathe through life with more ease. Benefits of a regular program of yoga include improved strength, flexibility, focus and concentration, as well as balance, comfort, and a reduced stress-reaction. Multiple classes on a weekly basis are highly recomended for best results.
*NagaYoga is a moderate slow-flow style (vinyasa) practice that is accessible to people of most ages, shapes and sizes. The practice is performed in a set, or series of postures that are linked together with connecting movements. Practice begins on the floor with breath awareness, and continues with movements designed to warm up and tone the core of the body. Once standing, the practice continues with sun salutations, standing poses and balances. Returning to the floor, the choice of practice includes backbends, seated twists, and inversions, finishing with deep relaxation. Experienced teachers provide students with modifications as needed for each individual.
Want to see the Practice in Action? Try our Yoga at Home DVD Too old for yoga? See the video of our students practicing at The Camano Senior & Community Center. Our belief is that one can begin yoga at any age and any stage of life.
We suggest: If you are brand-new to yoga, it may be best to take at least one session of yoga for beginners. If you wish, you may combine the yoga for beginners with additional all-levels classes. Taking class three to five times a week is best, remembering as well that once a week is better than none!
Reccomended: A monthly yoga membership allows you to take class once-weekly, twice weekly, or consider our highest value, an unlimited membership that includes all yoga and Pilates classes.
Instructors: Kara Keating, Shelley Dorland, Annie Bowen, Christy Nakamoto, Pat Cavit, Vicki Morrow.
Location: On-going and session classes are held at the Arlington studio, on Camano Island and in downtown Stanwood.
Naga Yoga Saturday morning Flow Practice
Flow Practice offers an opportunity to use skills and techniques that were learned
during the week. A teacher leads the practice, but there is little to no verbal cueing.
The flow class is accompanied by selected music to set a tone and inspire.
For students this is a much-loved opportunity to practice in a supportive enviroment.
We suggest: Three months of practice class, or prior experience of at least one year. Flow practice is demonstrated in our Yoga at Home DVD.
When: Saturday mornings from 9:30-11:00 am.
Instructors: Kara Keating, Shelley Dorland, Christy Nakamoto, Pat Cavit
Location: Arlington studio
*Naga (Sanskrit) Snake, signifying healing and renewal
through transformation.
From one of our students:
Hi Kara,
I just wanted to be sure to give you some positive feedback! I've been a long distance runner for several years now, and recently completed a half marathon about 2 weeks ago. Practicing yoga during my rigorous training periods, and using yoga to help recover after the race has nourished my overall peformance both mentally & physically. I have never used yoga as part of this routine, however I now know the amazing benefits.
Thank you so much!
Debra Benn
