Pat Cavit
Certified Naga Yoga Teacher / Registered Yoga Teacher

Pat was a long time runner and “gym rat” when she developed a debilitating case of rheumatoid arthritis. She turned to yoga for help in regaining her strength and flexibility; first studying with an Iyengar teacher, then coming to Movement Arts in 2001 where she discovered the Naga style flow practice. Pat has first-hand experience with the transformative power of yoga and believes anyone can benefit from regular practice.

Pat became a registered yoga teacher in 2006 and is a member of the International Society of Yoga Therapists. She has attended a variety of workshops and conferences which focus on Yoga as therapy and has studied with such nationally known teachers as Amy Weintraub, Leslie Kaminoff, Larry Payne, Gary Kraftsow, and Eric Small, among others. Pat’s special interest in yoga for MS developed after helping her sister-in-law, who has Multiple Sclerosis, begin a yoga practice. Encouraged by the progress she saw, Pat contacted the MS Society in Seattle who provided her with training materials and contacts with other yoga teachers who specialize in Yoga for MS.

Pat also has a master’s degree in social work and follows current research documenting the effects of yoga on depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and other neurological disorders. She is certified by the Street Yoga Organization to teach yoga classes for homeless youth. Pat has experience working with a variety of limiting conditions through work with disabled veterans, homeless women, and in teaching community classes for Chair Yoga. Pat believes that everyone, regardless of abilities or limitations, has the right to experience life at their full potential and sees yoga as a tool to help students accomplish that goal.
