Kara Keating
Director, Movement Arts
Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (ERYT)

Kara is a Movement Educator, specializing in yoga, movement, breath and dance as therapeutic and healing practices. She is the founder and director of Movement Arts Studio and the director of the Yoga Teacher Training program. She was first introduced to yoga at age 12 by her father, then later attended an alternative high school in New York City in which yoga was a part of the curriculum. A classically trained dancer, Kara holds a degree in Dance and Physical Education from the University of Iowa. She has been actively teaching vinyasa yoga for over fourteen years, as well as the classical jazz dance style of Luigi.

" I remember tears of joy" in 1996 when she discovered vinyasa yoga at a health spa in Mexico. Up until then yoga for her was a deeply personal yin-style practiced at home. "Here was the perfect blend of movement and breath, a yoga that was more like dance." Her studies led her to major US teachers such as Richard Freeman, Angela Farmer and John Friend, and inspired her to begin teaching yoga. Currently, her focus has been on studying with Rod Stryker whenever possible.

Kara was featured in the magazine Real Simple in 2002 about her journey through a rare illness and owning a yoga studio in a converted barn out in the "middle of nowhere". She produced the Yoga at Home DVD in 2008, and has been training yoga teachers since 2002.
